Insects
Here is a gallery of my garden insects in 2025. To be honest, what I enjoy about wildflowers is the chance of discovering a beautiful jewel when out walking. But not everyone thinks the same as me! I’m fully aware that many people are more interested in general biodiversity, and wildflower biodiversity supports the food web. So here’s a clickable gallery in no particular order!
As insects aren’t really my thing, I haven’t labelled them. I can provide dates and ID of the flowers they’re visiting to anyone interested. I only pictured what was of interest on the day so you’ll notice a lack of flies, midges, hoverflies, and cabbage white butterflies. For example, this Speckled Wood butterfly Pararge aegeria arrived on my kitchen window shortly after I found a spotter sheet from the Wildlife Trusts, so I was soon able to name it!
I’m aware there are various species of solitary and bumble bee that visit my garden but you’ll only see a couple here!
I’m hoping that my garden pond is helping to increase biodiversity in my wildlife garden
